February 27, 2012

Megan is really into asking what things are real: "Are castles real?" or "Are dragons real?" or "Can that really happen?" etc. The other day at preschool they had special guests, "Visitors from the Rainforest" who came and brought a bunch of animals that you might find in a rain forest. She came home and the first thing she said was, "Mom, parrots really can talk. I saw one." She was pretty excited about that and told Dad the same thing when he walked in the door also.

Megan has a couple weeks at the beginning of the year where she was having a hard time being reverent in church (on Sunday or during baptisms, etc). After a handful of times of coming home and having to practice sitting quietly with arms folded on a chair I think she is finally back on track. Her new primary teacher also told me that she and her good friend would sometimes get a little too social during class. Her teacher is great and simply explained to them that if they wanted to sit together then they have to pay attention during the lesson. It only took a couple of weeks of them being separated for them to get the idea. She has been great the past couple of weeks.

She is learning her ABCs. We are working on them every day - to get her ready to start school in the Fall. She likes to practice, but sometimes she gets frustrated when she can't remember them (she really has a hard time with "j," "k," "h," and "t"), but I told her that when she knows them all and the sound they make then she will get a special surprise. She is doing really well at writing her name these days.
